Poster: Aquaculture: Fish Farming and related
Technology |
Commercial fish farms provide
not only a food staple, but much needed daily protein and other nutrients for
people globally. Fresh-water fish farming is difficult, and Israeli technology
is used globally to bring healthy fish to the market at reasonable prices.
.
To increase productivity in areas where fresh
water is scarce, Israeli businessmen and scientists have teamed up to created a
solution which has been exported world-wide. An integrated technology manages
water flow and recycling to remove wastes such as ammonia from fish tanks,
while at the same time replenishing oxygen in water so the fish can flourish in
an ideal environment, all while not wasting precious water
resources.
Water in fish farms is regularly
circulated to reservoirs where specially grown algae and other bacteria clean
fish waste water naturally, and remaining solid waste products are removed and
used on farms as fertilizer, thus nothing is discarded in the process. The
reclaimed water is later moved back to fish tanks where it is re-oxygenated for
the next batch of fish. With this Israeli technology, no water is wasted, fish
are grown at low costs resulting in low food costs for consumer, and the
natural fertilizer byproducts help the environment. |
