When major disasters such as
earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, fires, floods and tsunamis strike anywhere
in the world; one of the nations which can be counted on to respond is Israel.
In fact, Israeli disaster rescue teams are some of the best trained and
high-tech equipped in the world.
Israel aided
Cambodian refugees in 1979, went to Mexico in 1985 to help earthquake victims,
helped earthquake victims in Armenia in 1998, helped victims of the Bosnian
Civil War in 1992, sent medical aid for Rwandan refugees in 1994, Helped
extinguish a major fire in Turkey in 1997, sent search and rescue teams to the
site of the US Embassy bombing in Kenya in 1998, sent aid to Kosovo refugees in
1999, sent emergency aid to Ethiopia in 2000, aided earthquake victims in India
and Peru and 2001, helped flood victims in Sri Lanka in 2003, and helped US
victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, helped earthquake victims in Indonesia as
well flood victims in Romania in 2006, just to name a few.
Israel is also a world leader in research and
development of new rescue methods and equipment, and Israeli rescue crews
practice year-round to be ready when any emergency occurs, leaving at a moments
notice to bring disaster medical and rescue specialists along with their
equipment anywhere in the world whenever they are needed. |
