Poster: Flying Cars |
Urban Aeronautics, an Israeli
company, has successfully tested flying cars, a new technology it plans to
market in 2010 with its new X-Hawk design. The creators envision the vehicles
first being used to rescue people in high rise building emergencies and for
other medical rescues.
Although the flying vehicle
concept dates back 50 years, what sets X-Hawk apart is no exposed rotors as
helicopters have, better hovering capability than a conventional helicopters
and it is much quieter. The X-Hawk, which will be available in several
configurations, can travel as high as 12,000 feet and 155 miles per hour, which
is also similar to conventional helicopters.
What
sets X-Hawk apart is that is equipped with a patented vane control system which
allows the aircraft to control individual directional forces, thus the ability
to move sideways without the need to roll. Never before has an aerial vehicle
been capable of completely separating its translational movement from its
angular motion. Thus, Israeli innovation has created the first real flying
car. |
