Light Unto Nations is part of the Divestment Watch project which is an offshoot of the Boycott Watch project started by columnist Fred Taub.

   The goal of Boycott Watch is to monitor and report boycott activity to get to the truth, reporting both sides of the story so people can decide for themselves what the truth is. Commercial boycotts are essentially the result of disgruntled consumers who feel they have no other options. As such, Fred Taub is also recognized as a consumer advocate as well as a boycott expert.

   As an outgrowth of Boycott Watch, Divestment Watch concentrates on the Arab boycott of Israel with is a political movement designed to destroy Israel economically rather than via military warfare. Fred Taub has written extensively about how the Arab boycott of Israel is anti-peace, illegal in the US and against the best interests of the US, which is why Fred Taub feels the project is so important.

   Fred Taub also realized that a pro-Israel campaign was needed on campuses in support of Israel, the US's most important ally in the Middle East. At the same time, Fred Taub also wanted to step beyond the world of back and forth jabs to create a single focused campaign on Israel's greatest accomplishments in the world, this Light Unto Nations was born.
